JJ Garret is an icon in information architecture/information design. His book The Elements of User Experience: User-Centered Design for the Web is one of the clearest explanations of what needs to be done, in what order, and how. If your working on a site then definitely read this one.

Sites used to be on of two kinds, technology driven or designer driven. This resulted in either a convuluted mess for the user or a glossy magazine ad that was interesting only the first time it was encounterd. This book is the antidote to both those types of sites. Just upgraded to the new wordpress. Great piece of software! Took the opportunity to change the look of the site.

Please ignore the cruft. The site is being re-skinned. Hopefully it will be worth the wait…

Lets see if this work in WordPress…..

Ah, nothing beats the smell of new blogging software. Just finished importing all my MoveableType entries into WordPress and I must say I am impressed. I like the new digs. Need to jazz it up a bit but all in all I think its nice. Not that I didn’t like Moveable Type. I love that software, but it was getting crufty and the comment & trackback spam was getting really ridiculous.

Why WordPress? I say why not. Its full featured, has a robust open-source community, and is done in php which is an interesting little language. So for now, here we are. Hope you enjoy it!

Now I have to test it with my offline blogging software….

So I couldn’t sleep, insomnia for some reason. I took the plunge and installed Moveable Type. Very sweet system!
