Jack Welch engineered an average appreciation in stock price of over 20% a year FOR A SOLID 20 YEARS. Even Rockefeller’s Standard Oil in its monopolistic heyday could only boast 19% average appreciation.

Anyway, listening to Jack talk about his life and times at GE (& about his issues after) one gets a great sense of who he was and why he was so successful.

A good friend of mine called me up and wanted to go see some movie. She, being a cutie, I couldn’t say no. So we went and saw the movie “Capturing the Friedmans”, a disturbing documentary (shes a documentary freak). It won best american documentary at Sundance. It’s a look inside the Friedman’s, a somewhat strange band indeed. The father, a teacher, was caught with child pornography and later the cops interviewed students and a huge case ensued. Anyway, this was a good disturbing film. Makes you ask some really tough questions. Highly recommended.
