Is it art? Is it science? Or is it just foaming at the mouth?

Welcome to my new WordPress Blog….

Ah, nothing beats the smell of new blogging software. Just finished importing all my MoveableType entries into WordPress and I must say I am impressed. I like the new digs. Need to jazz it up a bit but all in all I think its nice. Not that I didn’t like Moveable Type. I love that software, but it was getting crufty and the comment & trackback spam was getting really ridiculous.

Why WordPress? I say why not. Its full featured, has a robust open-source community, and is done in php which is an interesting little language. So for now, here we are. Hope you enjoy it!

Now I have to test it with my offline blogging software….

Ch…Ch…Ch…Changes…

1 February, 2005 (23:50) | blogging | By: Constantine

Do you know the lyrics to David Bowie’s song Changes? It starts:

I still don’t know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I’d got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I’ve never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I’m much too fast to take that test

This is appropriate for tonight’s thoughts. Yes, the time has come, I am pretty sure I am going to move off of moveable type and move to something else. Ideas are certainly welcome. Right now I am lusting after WordPress. Comments welcomed…

This is fascinating. Not that Gates hasn’t been wrong before, he definitely has (read the original The Road Ahead).

Now I can’t wait for the microsoft specific RSS format.

This look and feel is getting kinda old. As soon as I get some motivation and a few hours I’m gonna re-do it. I really like Nick Denton’s blog. Expect something that looks like that…

New Look & Feel…

29 June, 2003 (23:27) | blogging | By: Constantine

I got bored by the old look so I decided to spice things up around here. I’m not sure I like the color but I really like the layout.
So what makes up this page:
1 - Layout from blogstyles.com
2 - Weather Pixie
3 - The wonderful AllConsuming
4 - And of course BlogRolling
Shake and new site look. I’ll be changing the colors I think…

Blogging Excellence….

29 April, 2003 (23:51) | blogging | By: Constantine

Blogging is an amazing paradigm. I’ve spent some time exploring the various and sundry devices available to bloggers, they are truly amazing! And the best part of it is that MoveableType enables it all like nothing else I’ve seen.

Those krazy kats Ben & Mena have created an astounding piece of software. The really nice thing about moveable type is how full featured it is, with pings, trackbacks, etc… It makes for a true distributed publishing system that supports community involvement. For so long it appeared that the independant software developer was dead and these two have really put together something special.

Particularly nice is that these two have gotten decent funding and are starting out on a new endeavour called Typepad. I really wish them well. It appears to be a hosted blogging service much like blogger, the granddaddy of blogging and still a great service!

Back to moveable type. This thing is my favorite piece of software right now. Its extensibility is really nice. Check out MTAmazon. Its basically a plugin that cross-references your Amazon Affiliate account. It does some extremely interesting things.

For a full directory I suggest mt-plugins to find lots of plugins that do cool things…
