A couple of interesting links to entrepenuerism in the 3rd world:
 
 
Web 2.0 is ok, but the truth is something more wonderful is happening in the third world. This “thing” is being fueled by applying technology and innovative business practices along with traditional practices to radically change the lives of billions. It uses a different vocabulary, instead of ajax you have micro-loans. Instead of being able to easily schedule time with your friends for a beer complete with driving directions & google maps, this “thing” is enabling the poorest in the world to improve their lot in life and overcome disease, poverty, illiteracy, and oppression.
 
Kinda funny when you think about the differences in valuations…

China’s future

The face of censorship is alive and well in China, as usual, a fascinating piece in the Washington Post. Just a small snippet:
“Then, in August, Li Erliang proposed a point system for awarding bonuses to the paper’s staff members. Reporters would receive 100 points if their articles were praised by provincial officials, 120 if praised by the propaganda department and 300 if praised by a member of the Politburo. Points would be deducted if officials criticized articles. Just one report that upset a party leader could mean loss of a month’s salary.”
The article is not quite as bleak as the quote would suggest, instead it lends credence to the notion that China is changing, albeit slowly…

Before its even officially released a patch exists to run OSX 10.4.4 on many non-Apple Intel Systems. Amazing…
