This (http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/mar2005/tc20050324_7462_tc024.htm) is totally insane. If anyone needed to understand why monopolies or near monopolies need to be crushed should go read that article.
One of the cellular industries worst kept secrets is that Motorola and Apple have been collaborating on a phone. This would be some strange beast that is half iPod and half Razor phone. I am sure it would/will be incredibly innovative and the type of paradigm changing device that Apple is so well known for. I can imagine all sorts of goodness in that kind of product. The Macintosh integration alone would be elegant to behold.
Unfortunately, it seems that the cellular operators don’t like it. Heaven forbid you can load music YOU HAVE BOUGHT ONTO THE PHONE WITHOUT PAYING THEM A TOLL-FEE. Ridiculous, I hope the phone comes out, even if it sucks I’ll buy it just to jam my finger in the eye of the monopolists…
