The coolest piece of software I have been playing with is called Skype. Skype rocks! It lets you make calls over the internet to another person on the internet. Yes, most IM clients do this, the problem is they don’t work properly (most people don’t know how to properly fiddle with their firewalls). Now Skype is by no means new, I just haven’t had much reason to use it. Recently a sweet young lady friends of mine went to Stockholm, and we decided to try Skype. All I can say is WOW! The sounds quality rivals regular phonecalls and it worked out of the box, I didn’t have to walk her through some elaborate process to get it to work. It just worked and worked well. She was amazed and we have been able to keep in touch without exorbitant phone charges. Now here is the real kicker, I paired my computer with a bluetooth headset and it was just like talking on the phone. The rate of innovation the past few years has been so blisteringly fast that we have not had an opportunity to properly integrate these changes into our daily lives. I can’t wait to see what is next!
