I’ve been using Orkut the past few days. Its a very nice system in the social software space. Basically it lets you select people and mark them as friends (& find friends of friends), you can also select communities of common interest.

All this in an effort to put more people in touch with more people of similar interests. Looks good, except one problem: OrkutSpam. Its amazing how ridiculous it is to get spam in a system like this, but its there. Hopefully the google guys (they own orkut) will be able to do something about it otherwise the entire community will slowly die because of the spam problem…

I love wiki’s, been playing around with FlexWiki. Very nice & simple system. I like it!

If you write code for a lving or would like to know how professionals do it anything by McConnell is a must read. He just revised and release the all time classic:All Consuming: Book Info: Code Complete, Second Edition (Dv-Professional).

Do yourself a favor and read it all, its the best medicine for a programmer yet…

Currently deeply into All Consuming: Book Info: Embracing Defeat: Japan in the Wake of World War II. This book is an amazing almost voyeuristic journey into post-WWII japan. The book was recommended by a friend of mine who has very good taste. He got me to read Samuel Pepys: The Unequalled Self, another book I enjoyed.

I highly recommend Embracing Defeat…

I have missed the old technetcast, listening to it on my old mp3 player was a blast. I recently found IT Conversations. Looks like I’m back in business…
